A solar system paired with a battery is a smart alternative to a conventional generator. It runs silently, requires no fuel and takes over instantly during a power outage: there’s nothing to start and nothing to monitor. The rest of the year, it works for you by reducing the amount of electricity you buy from the grid.

Marc Cossette Inc. offers full support for the installation of residential and commercial solar systems.

Target Clients

  • Residential (homes, cottages)
  • Commercial (office buildings, warehouses, retail stores)

Advantages and Benefits

  • Energy independence
  • Eco-friendly: Protects the environment
  • Profitable: Sell electricity back to Hydro-Québec

Full support from an experienced, certified team for your turnkey solar energy projects.

How does your solar system work?

The panels generate power

Installed on your roof at the most favourable orientation and angle, the panels convert daylight into electricity, even on cloudy days and in winter.

The inverter converts and distributes

The energy produced powers your appliances first. Whatever your home doesn’t use right away is sent to the battery.

The battery stores energy

The stored reserve is used in the evening, overnight and during power outages. The switchover is automatic: nothing for you to do, and no interruption for your sensitive devices.

Surplus goes to the grid

Once the battery is full, the surplus can be fed into the Hydro-Québec grid and credited to you, then drawn back during the less sunny months.

Backup Time, Surplus Energy and Electric Vehicles

A Battery Sized for Your Needs

Battery capacity is chosen based on what you want to keep running during an outage: just the essentials (heating, refrigerator, pump, lighting, internet) or your entire home. We walk you through the options and how many hours of backup power each one provides.

Hydro-Québec Net Metering

When you sign up for the net metering option, the surplus power you send to the grid is converted into kilowatt-hour credits. You build up credits in the summer and draw on them in the winter, when consumption rises and production drops.

Bidirectional Charging (V2X)

A bidirectional charging station lets your electric vehicle’s battery power your home in turn. Your car becomes a sizeable backup reserve, extending your backup time without needing a larger stationary battery.

Our Process, Step by Step

  • Needs Assessment
We review your energy consumption, your roof configuration, your electrical service entrance, and what you want to power during an outage.
  • System Design
Sizing of the panels, inverter, and battery, with bidirectional charging station options where applicable.
  • Detailed Quote
Cost, subsidies, backup autonomy, estimated production, and return on investment, clearly presented.
  • Permits and Applications
Municipal permit, self-generation application, and subsidy paperwork: we take care of it all.
  • Installation
Work performed by our certified electricians in compliance with the Quebec Construction Code.
  • Connection and Commissioning
Inspection, installation of the bidirectional meter by Hydro-Québec, system commissioning, and a demonstration of how it works.

What You’ll Find in Our Quote

Once your needs have been assessed, our team calculates the total cost of the project and the grants you’re eligible for. You can then make an informed decision.

  • The number of panels required and their layout on your roof
  • Estimated annual production, in kilowatt-hours
  • The power output and capacity of the proposed battery
  • The number of hours of backup power based on the loads you want to keep running
  • The full cost of the project, including equipment and labour
  • Eligible grants and your net out-of-pocket cost
  • Projected annual savings and payback period
  • The optional addition of a V2X bidirectional charger
